RMM Custom Channel FAQ
Can I host my own creative?
Yes, if you supply ad tags that we can traffic. We can host IAB-standard Flash-based banners (SWFs) at no extra charge. There are additional fees for hosting files larger than 40K. Our creative production team can work with you to provide an estimate of the size and typically build the file within RMM's specifications, so you do not have to pay the additional hosting fees.
Can I see my banners running?
RMM provides screenshots upon request showing your banners live on the RMM custom channel to assure you that your client's banners are running efficiently.
How many/how often can I get screenshots?
For custom channels, we provide up to two screenshots per week with 48-hour turnaround time.
What files do you need from me to make the banner?
All source files and any font files used for your client's brand. If the client wants to provide mockups of the look for the banner or suggest animation, they can provide that as well.
Supported file formats (vector-based files are preferred): Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Flash (FLA), QuarkXPress, Adobe Fireworks, Macromedia Freehand, PDF, EPS, JPG, PNG, TIFF
How can I track post-click activity?
By placing tracking pixels on strategic pages on your website, we are able to track and provide reporting on post-click activity. This activity includes pageviews, sales, registrations, leads, information requests, etc.
What is your optimization process for run-of-network (RON) campaigns?
For RON campaigns, RMM launches the campaign on targeted sites that are most likely to achieve your client's objectives. Once launched, we will begin to eliminate non-performing websites after three days and add your banner to new websites, or better performing sites, to achieve the optimal level of performance. We then monitor and re-optimize continuously to achieve the most efficient and effective campaign for your client. We typically optimize based on click-through rate but can optimize on other client objectives as well.
What is your optimization process for custom channel campaigns?
For campaigns running on a custom channel, we optimize the campaign starting three days after launch to remove non-performing sites and add in new sites from the approved site list to achieve the optimal level of performance.
How quickly can we get our campaign up?
Getting a campaign off to a good start is essential to ensure a high-quality campaign start to finish. We do aggressive testing during the early period and want to make sure everything is working well. Once this initial optimization is completed, we can ramp up the campaign to the targeted pace. Every campaign is different and needs different allocations of time, and we can work with you on a timeline that fits your needs.
What kind of reporting do you provide for Custom Channels?
You will be given a login to the RMM RedZone. Our standard reporting includes overall impressions, clicks, and click-through rate. Upon request, we can also provide post-impression / post-click activity including pageviews, sales, leads, information requests, etc.
What if my client does not have enough to make the minimum budget to get the custom plan?
We offer vertical markets if the client is below a minimum per month. They can choose to run on designated sites in one of our vertical market categories or run across a couple. See our vertical markets (listed below).

Yes, using our LeadTracker technology, we can capture and provide instant notification upon receipt of a lead. To view it, you will be provided a login to a lead management system that contains all the collected data from your prospects. There is a one-time fee of $500 for the set-up and implementation of LeadTracker.
How do you perform geo-targeting?
Using the IP address of the visitor, we can target users in your designated geographic area.
How soon can I get started?
We can typically get you an Insertion Order within 24 hours. Once the IO is signed and credit approval is submitted and pending, we can launch the campaign within 2-3 business days. However, we need to receive all final creative assets or approval for banners we create one business day prior to campaign launch.
What is your credit approval process?
RMM requires completed and signed credit applications from all customers in order to establish net billing terms. The client must complete and sign the RMM Credit Application before RMM can proceed with the campaign. The approval process typically takes about 3 business days.
Do you give discounts for pre-payment?
Yes, we offer a 3% discount for pre-payment by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and company checks.
Campaign Performance Tracking and Metrics
Standard Tracking
RMM offers standard tracking reports for all campaigns, which include impressions, clicks, CPM by ad size, creative, placement, or geotargeting.
What post-click or post-impression data can you track?
We can track detailed sales information such as OrderID, order price, and order quantity using DART Spotlight. This requires implementation of a pixel and additional code on the website that collects this information in the Spotlight URL. RMM can provide these updates to your site for an additional fee.

- Detailed website analytics (Google Analytics):
- Visitor tracking – unique visitors, time on site, pageviews per visitor
- Traffic source – referring website, search keyword
- Content – pageviews by page
- Goals – tracking client defined statistics based on conversion path. Example: Show sign-ups and abandonment rate on each page of the checkout process.
- DART Tracking
- On-site activity tracking
- Revenue
- Order ID
What is a pixel?
A pixel is a piece of javascript code placed on a website. The pixel communicates with a tracking server whenever certain actions occur such as when the page loads, when the visitor leaves the page, etc.
Can I track these enhanced metrics if I don’t have an analytics tool installed on my website?
Yes. RMM will create an account in Google Analytics or DART in order to track on-site activity, then create a pixel and send to client for installation on their website, and use that data from the analytics tool to provide reports and optimize the campaign to better achieve the client’s targeted goals.
I already have an analytics pixel installed on my site. Can you track using it?
Yes, in most cases. An RMM generated pixel, however, is the optimal way to track campaign related activity. There is no limit to the number of pixels that can be added to a page. If installing another pixel is not an option, the client can provide RMM with ready-only access to their current system.
Can you track banner interactions beyond just click counts?
Yes. If in-depth tracking is desired, the banners need to encompass the ability to track user interaction. RMM can provide these services for an additional fee.
Engagement/Creative Tracking
- Interactions
- Expansions
- Video playback metrics
- Exit paths (Counts clicks on links / buttons that leave the page such as “Buy now”, “Get more info”, etc.)
