FAQs
What is Iris?
Iris is a total preroll advertising solution that offers advertisers and their agencies greater control of all aspects of the online video experience – the audience, the content, and the technology – empowering them to deliver compelling, brand-safe online video advertising. We do everything the other guys do and then some.
How is Iris different than other types of preroll advertising?
Instead of running preroll ads in websites’ video players, Iris lets you run your ads in a player that guarantees that your ads always run against safe and targeted content.
How much does it cost?
The minimum budget is $15,000/month. CPMs are competitive with other video networks, but you get the added benefits of Iris’ managed content solution and deep metrics for free. Specific pricing is available from the RMM Media Team on a per campaign basis. The factors that drive pricing are vertical channel, geo-targeting, and current publisher availability.
What sites will I run on?
The Iris Preroll Network has eight comScore rated, vertically-targeted, video-optimized channels with about 50 sites each that are available today, at any impression level. Vertical channels are discussed here.
Can I split my campaign between multiple vertical channels?
Yes, the $15,000/month minimum applies in this case as well as a $7,500/month minimum for each vertical.
Can I target DMAs? How many?
Yes, the $15,000/month minimum applies in this case as well as a $2,500/month minimum for each geotarget budget allocation.
What metrics do I get?
All Iris campaigns include standard performance metrics (clicks, impressions, and CTR) and Synapse engagement metrics that show you how users interact with your preroll in near real-time.
What does Synapse track?
Engage, Expand, Collapse, Close, Video Start (video player sends this at 0%), Video Progress (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%), Mute, Unmute, Play, Pause, Scrub, Social Media Buttons, and Custom Events.
What if I want my own channel?
If you need it today, we can build you a custom channel for your video campaign using another RMM video solution (in-banner video, widget, Skinny Mini, or an expandable unit with video). Prices are normal Custom Channel prices and require a media plan. They do not run with Iris content and therefore are not preroll solutions. In the future, we may have Iris preroll video Custom Channel options.
What customization options are available?
We offer a social media overlay on the bottom 50 pixels of the player with options for Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
What assets do you need from me?
We need your preroll ad, either as a video file that we will host or as a VAST tag that we can use within the Iris Preroll Network.
Can I run a video larger than 300×240?
Right now, we only offer the 300×240 player option. Most networks resize the ads to work in whatever player size the website is playing. We’ve standardized all our distribution on the 300×240 ad size.
Can I run a :30 preroll ad?
Our standard offering is :15 preroll ad. We can offer custom pricing for a 30 second preroll ad.
I don’t have a video ad. Can RMM produce one for me?
We can take existing video footage and build a clip for the client. Submit request to the RMM Creative Team for pricing on a case-by-case basis. We don’t offer full-service shoots at this time.
Is this the same as in-banner video?
No, we dynamically control ads and content. In-banner video typcically just plays a single ad without any content. Our preroll video runs on the Iris Video Player, which plays an ad, following by the content clip, then another ad, then content, etc. Our player offers full playback control for play/pause, volume, scrub, and playlist.
How many sites will I run on?
It will vary greatly by campaign based on monthly spend, publisher availability, and individual site performance. Our network of sites generates millions of views based on orders received, so as the network grows, so do the number of sites that are included in our network.
Can you distribute my ad to sites that have embedded (non-RMM) players?
Not today, but this option is coming soon (expected in Q1 2012).
When will the Iris Network be ready?
We started running limited Iris campaigns in July. The full player and network will be available for an August 15 campaign start date.
What features are next?
In late 2011/early 2012, we are planning to roll out additional vertical channels, Iris Custom Channels, transparent reporting, and client-custom content control options.
